A wildland fire burning in north Thornton on Friday afternoon was threatening structures, authorities say.
Flames from Thornton grass fire are very close to a nearby neighborhood
The burn is near 136th Avenue just west of Quebec Street. North Metro Fire Rescue says several agencies are responding to the scene.
“It does look like we have enough containment to where the structures are not
threatened,” Sara Farris, spokeswoman for North Metro, said about 4:15 p.m.
The Thornton Fire Department says the U.S. Forest Service and aerial resources are being summoned.
Photos from the scene showed a large smoke plume billowing into the air. The blaze’s cause was not immediately known.
